CPAH’s Thriving in Place Program is for for adults ages 55 and older, and takes place at the Watershed at Hillsdale and the Knoll at Tigard apartment complexes. The program seeks to allow residents to “age in place” and live independently as long as possible through community building and a number of onsite wellness activities.
Residents participate in monthly potlucks, birthday parties, and bingo, as well as writing and art workshops, as a way to develop relationships with their neighbors and expand their horizons. Throughout the year, TIPP hosts several special events including Veteran’s Day, holiday parties, and National Night Out.
To maintain their health, residents have the opportunity to participate in biweekly walking groups, as well as free onsite yoga and tai chi sessions. A number of guest speakers from the community present at both properties on relevant aging topics including elder law, nutrition, and fall prevention. Once a year, each building has its own Wellness Fair, during which residents have the opportunity to speak directly to local health organizations.
